The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted interim bail to Karnal Market Committee secretary Asha Rani and auction recorder Yashpal Kumar in a case related to the alleged issuance of fake gate passes from IP addresses located outside the Karnal grain market during the ongoing paddy procurement season.

Granting the interim bail, Justice Sanjay Vashisth directed the accused to join the investigation whenever required and comply with the conditions stipulated under Section 482(2), BNSS.

Asha Rani and three other employees—Rajender Kumar of Duhanpur Viran (Indri), Amit Kumar of Dadupur Roran, and Ajay Kumar of Narukheri—have been booked for failing to discharge their duties in the issuance of gate passes. The FIR pertains to alleged irregularities and 'ghost' procurement through fake gate passes issued outside the mandis.

Earlier, on November 13, Additional Sessions Judge Rajneesh Kumar had rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of Asha Rani and Yashpal. On November 20, her arrest was stayed till November 28.

Additional Sessions Judge Karnal Rajneesh Kumar has granted anticipatory bail to Ashok Kumar and Sanjay Kumar, owners of AS Rice Mills at Nanhera village in Indri. They were booked for alleged shortage of paddy in their mill.
