Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sandeep Singh inaugurated a three-day International Saraswati Mahotsav in Pehowa on Monday. He said the mahotsav has brought Pehowa on the international map.

“An effort has been made to give a grand look to the mahotsav this year and we will try to come out with something new every year. But this will require everyone’s cooperation,” he said.

He called upon people to participate vigorously in all religious and social programmes being held in Pehowa and said the government would extend all possible help for the events.

He said, “For rejuvenation, protection and research, the government had constituted the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board. With the efforts of the board, such a programme is being organsied which will help in imparting knowledge about the state’s culture among people.” For the mahotsav, a look of a village and a Haryana Darshan Mhara Haryana Gallery has been created where crafts from the state have been displayed.

Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata said, “Keeping security and convenience for visitors in mind, arrangements have been made for the mahotsav.” — OC
