International artistes perform Bengali bhajans & Gayatri Mantra at KU

The Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology, Kurukshetra University, organised ‘Baridhi Ensemble’, an international music concert, on Sunday.

Led by Baridhi of Bulgaria, musicians from Austria and Italy began the programme with a performance of the Gayatri Mantra.

Musicians presented Bengali bhajans composed by their spiritual guru, Chinmoy Kumar Ghosh.

Vikas Kumar, a student of the Department of Music and Dance, accompanied the international musicians on the tabla.

Kurukshetra University Registrar, Lieutenant Dr Virendra Pal, who was the chief guest, said spiritual music could flourish well in Kurukshetra, the land of the Gita.

Prof Maha Singh Poonia, Director, Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology, who was presiding over the concert, said music, culture and spirituality enhanced students’ personalities. Students should learn from the life of Lord Rama, he added.

Baridhi stressed upon the need for students to practice meditation in their daily lives for spiritual peace, and said external peace was possible only through inner peace.

He said if one was determined in life, then one could overcome difficult times.
