Dhankar was responding to media queries after addressing a gathering of traders and shopkeepers in Jhajjar on Monday. He urged citizens to take pride in using indigenous products and develop local alternatives to imported goods to boost India’s GDP and save foreign exchange.

He said Indian farmers, artisans, traders, and workers were hardworking, and the youth must be inspired to adopt ‘swadeshi’ practices.

“Farmers, shopkeepers, traders, labourers, scientists — everyone — must come together to realise the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘swadeshi’, self-reliant, developed India,” Dhankar said.

He said Jhajjar’s current GDP was around Rs 40,000 crore, and urged residents to pledge to raise it to Rs 50,000 crore within the next year.

He said only through such efforts could India’s GDP reach $5 trillion by 2027, positioning it as the third-largest economy in the world.
