Despite streetlights, its pitch dark in Lane 9, Sector D, Defence Colony. Earlier, there used to be tube lights, and residents used to put these on and off. A week ago, these lights were replaced by LED lights whose control for switching on/off is central. Now, no one can switch these on after sunset, thereby leading to a dark lane. The residents and motorists are inconvenienced. It can also lead to accidents. The authorities should ensure that the lights are switched on/off at the laid down timings, and properly maintained. — Col RD Singh (retd), Ambala Cantt
Illegal colonies mushrooming
It is a matter of grave concern that unauthorised colonies are mashrooming. It has been noticed that in Laxman Vihar, Shivaji Nagar, Dayanand Colony and Arjun Nagar, the construction work is going on in full swing and maps are being passed. There is a need to keep curbs on the mushrooming colonies. — Subhash C Taneja, Gurugram
