Jagadhri RWA passes resolution against arbitrary collection of ‘shagun’ by eunuchs

Eunuchs would now not be able to force residents of Sector 18 of Jagadhri to collect ‘shagun’ amount arbitrarily on the occasion of marriages and birth of children. The Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of this sector has decided to fix the ‘shagun’ amount to be collected by eunuchs.

Other decisions taken during meeting

• KS Sandhawa, the financial secretary of the Jagadhri Sector 18 RWA, said 20 resolutions were passed in the meeting. It was decided that the fencing of the sector would be carried out to ensure safety of residents
• He said resolutions for installing CCTV cameras, handing over the charge of the community centre to the RWA and carrying out civil and other works in both parks of the sector were also passed

At a meeting of the RWA held under the chairmanship of its president Dharamveer Kamboj in the community centre here on Sunday, 20 resolutions, including fixing of ‘shagun’ amount, were passed.

The RWA took the decision of fixing the ‘shagun’ amount collected by eunuchs after it received a several complaints from residents that were charged hefty sums of money in the name of ‘shagun’ arbitrarily. KS Sandhawa, the financial secretary of the RWA, said 20 resolutions were passed in the meeting.

He added that in the meeting, it was also decided that the fencing of the sector should be carried out to ensure the safety of residents. He said resolutions for installing CCTV cameras, handing over the charge of the community centre to the RWA and carrying out civil and other works in both parks of the sector were also passed.

“The resolutions include getting police verification done for house maids, to get the main entry gate constructed, to get the residents’ directory printed and several other works related to the development of the sector,” Sandhawa said. He added that most of the residents of Sector 18 participated in the house meeting.

RWA chief Kamboj said all reasonable demands of residents would be fulfilled as soon as possible. The meeting was also attended by the association’s general secretary Sudhir Verma, retired professor RP Tyagi, Radheshyam, Ranbir Nehra, Devi Lal, Ram Kumar Dhiman and others.
