Jagdish Jhinda resigns a day after winning HSGMC polls
A day after the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) elections, Panthak Dal (Jhinda) group president Jagdish Singh Jhinda announced to resign from the elected committee.
Of the 40 winners, nine belonged to Panthak Dal (Jhinda) group, six to Haryana Sikh Panthak Dal (affiliated with SAD), three to Didar Singh Nalvi-led Sikh Samaj Sanstha and 22 were Independent.
Jhinda, who had won from Ward 18 (Assandh), said that of the 21 candidates who contested under his banner, only nine had won the election and he is in no position to bring the Independent candidates to get majority.
Unhappy with the results, he said, “We had struggled for over 22 years to get a separate Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee for Haryana. During the elections, people used to say that they will vote for those who had struggled for the HSGMC, but when the results were announced, the other candidates won. I take the responsibility of not being able to get the majority and I resign from my Ward. I will stay out from the committee and work for the Sikh Panth and the farmers. I will also meet farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a fast unto death due to adamant behaviour of the BJP.”
