NIT-Kurukshetra inaugurated the 5th Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations on Saturday, as part of the nationwide observance commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda and honouring other great tribal freedom fighters of India.

Dr Chandrashekara M, nodal officer for the 150th Jan Jatiya Gaurav Varsh, said the celebration, observed across the country from November 1 to 15, was officially launched at NIT-Kurukshetra with the symbolic act of taking the “first selfie” to mark the commencement of the event.

As part of this celebration, NIT-Kurukshetra will organise a series of engaging cultural and creative activities, including dance and music performances, storytelling sessions, content creation competitions for best reels, best selfie, best photography with Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda at selfie point and short videos, skits, dramas, and dance performances on Tribal and Adivasi, innovative Solar Technology for improving the life of the tribal and Adivasi. Participants from schools, colleges and universities across the country will showcase their talents to celebrate, inspire, and honour the invaluable contributions of the country’s great tribal freedom fighters said Dr Chandrashekara M.
