Japanese experts familiarise sports varsity students, trainers with fitness techniques

The Sports University of Haryana organised a one-day workshop on “Game-based approach in physical education and Japanese style physical fitness” on Monday. The primary objective of the workshop was to familiarise students and trainers with the latest dimensions of Japanese fitness techniques, strength training, and body conditioning.

The chief guest and keynote speakers of the event were Dr Naoki Suzuki (Tokyo Gakugei University), Ikumi Mizukura, and Kiriko Atsumi, who delivered detailed sessions on various aspects of Japanese fitness methodology, physical balance, endurance and mental concentration.

They also provided participants with hands-on experience in Japanese stretching techniques, resistance training and mind-body coordination exercises. Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar emphasised that such international workshops are vital for the holistic development of students.

He stated that these programmes not only enhance physical abilities but also strengthen discipline, patience and a global outlook among the learners. Dean of Academic Affairs, Professor Yogesh, shared his experiences from his visit to Japan and highlighted that the university was continuously striving to provide opportunities for international-level physical and intellectual training.

He added that the workshop would help students understand the scientific and disciplined approach of Japanese fitness culture. The workshop marked a significant step by the Sports University of Haryana towards motivating students to adopt modern fitness methodologies and preparing them to meet global standards.

A practical session was also conducted, where the participants received direct and video-based demonstrations of unique Japanese exercise techniques, along with physical fitness assessments. The students actively participated in interactive discussions with the keynote speakers.
