Jat college dominates Hisar varsity inter-college sports meet

The three-day inter-college annual sports meet of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, concluded at the Maharana Pratap Stadium, with Chhaju Ram Memorial (CRM) Jat College emerging as the overall champion in both the men’s and women’s categories. Government College, Hisar, finished as the overall runners-up.

HS Bhadu, member of the Indian Olympic Association and senior vice-president of the Haryana Athletics Association, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, while Vice-Chancellor Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi presided over the function.

In individual honours, Sunil Kumar of CRM Jat College was adjudged Best Athlete in the men’s category, while Komal, also from CRM Jat College, received the Best Athlete award among women.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Bhadu urged students to pursue their chosen fields with dedication and hard work, reminding them that success demands patience and sustained effort. Becoming an athlete and performing at higher levels, he said, requires continuous struggle and commitment.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that sports are a blend of discipline, teamwork and time management. He expressed confidence that the participants of this meet would go on to bring laurels to the state and the country. He added that participation in sports has been made compulsory for first-year university students to encourage greater involvement in physical activities.

On the final day, Anju of SD Mahila College, Hansi, won the women’s 5,000m race, followed by Saroj and Meenakshi of FC College, Hisar. In the men’s 5,000m, Sumit of CRM Jat College secured first place, with Rohit and Vikas finishing behind him.

In the 4x400m relay (men), CRM Jat College clinched the top position, while Government College, Hisar, came second. CRM Jat College also won the women’s 4x400m relay, with Government College, Hisar, finishing runners-up.

In women’s hammer throw, Sonika of SD College, Hansi, took first place, followed by Bhawna and Sonia. In the men’s hammer throw, Tanishk of Jat College finished first, Vivek of UTD second and Rajgovardhan Singh of Government College third.

In the women’s 200m, Isha of Jat College secured first place, with Chetna and Neeshu taking second and third. In the men’s 200m, Rahul of Jat College finished first, followed by Sunil Kumar and Himanshu.

In the women’s triple jump, Tamanna of CRM Jat College came first, with Komal and Dimple placing second and third. In the men’s triple jump, Jatin of CRM Jat College clinched first, Vikram of Government College finished second and Sandeep of DN College placed third.
