Kurukshetra MP Nayab Singh Saini said on Saturday that strict action would be taken against the officials responsible for three deaths due to jaundice.

He met the family members of the deceased and said he had directed the Deputy Commissioner to hold an investigation.

A total of 95 cases of jaundice had been reported in Kurukshetra so far. Residents of Sector 3 sought strict action against officials responsible.

Saini said supply of poor quality water was the reason behind the outbreak, following which chlorination was increased, but issues remained.

He said residents had informed HSVP officials regarding poor quality water, but no action was taken. He asked the Deputy Commissioner to prepare a proposal to lay a new pipeline.

“It is the responsibility of the government to provide clean drinking water. Such negligence will not be tolerated. Accountability of erring officials will be fixed and appropriate action initiated,” said Saini.
