After the accident, the bus driver and conductor fled the scene. An FIR has been registered at the Sector 37 police station, and the police have taken the bus into custody.

According to a complaint filed by Naveen Kumar, a JBT student and resident of Kotputli in Rajasthan, he and his friends — Sandeep Gurjar, Raj, Romesh Chandolia and Madan Lal Saini — were pursuing a JBT course at Kinder Kin College of Education in Panipat. They had travelled to Panipat to appear for an examination. After the exam, they reached IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram around 10.30 pm on Thursday. They boarded a private bus bound for Jaipur around 1.20 am.

Naveen Kumar said in his complaint, “The bus driver was speeding, and when the students asked him to slow down, he replied that he was in a hurry to reach Jaipur and continued driving at high speed. Around 2 am, the bus went out of control and overturned after hitting the divider near Narsinghpur village on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. Chaos and panic ensued and nearby residents, hearing the passengers’ screams, rushed to the scene. A police team arrived and, with the help of locals, rescued the passengers trapped in the bus. The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared Gurjar dead.”

A senior police official said the injured were discharged after receiving first-aid. “A case has been registered, and the driver will be arrested soon. We have handed over the body of the deceased to his family after the postmortem,” he added.
