JCD Vidyapeeth hosts 44th senior state volleyball championship
The 44th Senior State Volleyball Championship (Men and Women) officially began today at the JCD Vidyapeeth campus in Sirsa, with a floral tribute and moment of silence in honour of the late former Haryana Chief Minister, Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Jai Prakash, Director General of JCD Vidyapeeth and Sube Singh, General Secretary of the Haryana Volleyball Association, along with other dignitaries. Coaches from across Haryana also attended the grand opening, which was attended by a large number of players, sports enthusiasts and guests.
In his address, Karan Chautala, President of the Haryana Volleyball Association, dedicated the championship to Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala, remembering him as a symbol of dedication. He also highlighted the former Chief Minister’s contributions to sports, particularly his introduction of cash awards to encourage athletes, including the recognition of Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari.
The championship, taking place from December 27 to 29, features teams from all districts of Haryana. Singh noted the event serves as an excellent platform for players to showcase their talents and promotes youth interest in volleyball.
Dr Jai Prakash stressed the importance of sports in fostering physical health, mental wellbeing and essential life skills such as discipline and teamwork.
