The Jhajjar administration has been given a target to construct 3,171 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in the district this year.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pradeep Dahiya directed the officials to complete the verification work of eligible beneficiaries quickly so that they could be given the benefit of the government scheme as soon as possible to bring about meaningful changes in their lives.

“Last year, 567 poor families in the district had got the benefit under this scheme. This government scheme is being implemented by the Rural Development Department. It has proven successful in bringing positive changes in the beneficiaries’. The DC has asked the officials to prepare a strategy to quickly achieve the targets,” said an official.

The DC said the PMAY-G was aimed at providing permanent houses to eligible poor families in rural areas.

“The scheme is becoming the base of stability and happiness in the lives of poor families in the district. It reflects the government’s commitment towards the deprived class. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to the eligible beneficiaries in three instalments. Rs 45,000 are released in the first instalment, Rs 60,000 in the second and Rs 33,000 in the third,” said Dahiya.

While issuing instructions to local officials of the Rural Development Department, the DC said no eligible family in the district should be deprived of the benefits of this scheme.

“The survey work should be completed with impartiality within the stipulated time and the verification work of the beneficiaries in the entire district and the work of house construction should also be completed on time in a planned manner,” he added.
