Jhajjar imposes ban on illegal dumping of plastic waste

In response to the rising pollution caused by the burning of plastic waste, District Magistrate Pradeep Dahiya has enforced a ban on the illegal dumping or unloading of plastic waste at unauthorised locations across Jhajjar district. The ban has been issued under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

The District Magistrate has directed the District Police, the Secretary of Regional Transport Authorities and the Executive Officer of the Bahadurgarh Municipal Council to ensure strict compliance with the ban. Violators will face penalties as outlined in Section 223 of the BNS.

An official explained, “The illegal PVC market operating in the Bahadurgarh area has been dumping plastic waste in public and unauthorised spaces. This practice not only harms the environment but also poses significant health risks. Therefore, urgent measures are needed to address the nuisance and serious threat caused by plastic waste. The District Magistrate has acted decisively to curb this issue.”

The official further highlighted that plastic waste contributes to both air and water pollution, severely damaging the environment. As such, local authorities have been instructed to strictly enforce the ban to mitigate the harmful effects of plastic waste.

Sources revealed that several factories in the Bahadurgarh area process plastic waste, further exacerbating the issue. District authorities have stressed the need for coordinated efforts to address the growing threat posed by plastic waste and ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for residents.
