Local residents on Sunday sent relief kits for flood-affected people in Punjab. BJP national secretary Om Prakash Dhankar flagged off multiple trucks loaded with the relief material. The aid is destined for rural areas of Amritsar district, which have been severely impacted by the recent flooding.
Before the flag-off ceremony, Dhankar visited the Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Stadium Hall to inspect the relief kits being prepared for dispatch. The kits, compiled through the joint efforts of local social workers, donors and social organisations in coordination with the administration, include essential supplies meant to support daily needs of the affected people.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhankar said the devastating floods in Punjab have severely disrupted life.
“We are sending essential relief material from the district headquarters, including medical kits, buckets, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, flour, pulses, sugar, rice, footwear, mustard oil, spices and other daily-use food items. These supplies will help provide some much-needed relief to the affected families,” he added.
The BJP leader appreciated the overwhelming support from across Haryana and other parts of the country. “In this hour of crisis, people from all walks of life, including social workers, donors, administrative teams, NGOs and party volunteers, are coming forward to help. The entire nation stands in solidarity with the people of Punjab,” he added.
Dhankar said, “Alongside the government, every section of society must contribute, as we all have a responsibility to help rebuild the lives of those who are suffering.”
