In a shocking incident, Jind-based advocate Vinod Bansal has received multiple threat calls allegedly from inside the Jind Jail, warning him of dire consequences unless he withdraws from two ongoing murder trials.
The caller, who identified himself as Pradeep alias Gatta, reportedly warned Bansal that he and his family would be eliminated within 10 days, claiming affiliation with the notorious Baljit-Dharmender gang.
Bansal filed a complaint with the Civil Lines Police, following which a case has been registered.
According to Bansal, the first threat call came at 9:55 am yesterday, followed by two more at 11:22 am and 1:10 pm. The caller allegedly hurled abuses and pressured Bansal to withdraw from two murder cases in which he is both a legal representative and a witness.
The accused Pradeep is currently lodged in Jind Jail and is the prime accused in the 2021 murder of Bansal’s younger brother, Shyam Sunder. Bansal said, “They have already killed two of my brothers. Now, they’re threatening to eliminate me and my family.” His elder brother, Purushottam, was murdered in 2016, allegedly by the same gang. The police have deployed five gunmen for Bansal’s protection.
