A delegation of the JJP met the Haryana Governor yesterday to voice concerns regarding the Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak. The party has accused the university of misleading lakhs of students by projecting a false NAAC ‘A+’ rating.
Led by former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, the delegation submitted a memorandum demanding a high-level probe into the matter and calling for strict action against those responsible.
Chautala claimed that MDU’s NAAC accreditation expired in March 2024 but the university has continued to claim an ‘A+’ rating ever since. Under this false pretext, the university has not only admitted new students but also issued degrees and mark sheets that carry the ‘A+’ rating to two batches. According to Chautala, the irresponsible conduct of the university has put the future of more than 1.5 lakh students in jeopardy.
The party has accused the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of MDU, who is also the head of the NAAC rating committee, of deliberately avoiding updating the accreditation fearing a downgrade. The party has stated that MDU is now misleading students with a new scheme and keeping the NAAC accreditation process “in the dark,” in order to hide this institutional failure. Chautala has urged CM Nayab Saini to take immediate action and remove the VC of MDU.
