The national president of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), former MP Ajay Singh Chautala, alleged that the BJP came to power due to the Congress leaders who ensured the defeat of their own party in the Assembly poll in the state.

Addressing a rally to mark the eighth foundation day of the party in Julana town of Jind district on Sunday, Chautala alleged that the Congress leaders themselves colluded with the BJP, which was now “looting the state.” He said in the state, a kind of “jungle raj” prevailed as theft, robbery and murder had become common, and even girls were not safe in educational institutions.

Questioning the Chief Minister’s claims on law and order, he asked who would take responsibility for protecting the people of the state. Calling the BJP government anti-farmer and anti-labourer, Chautala said the farmers were not able to recover the input cost of their crops as they were forced to sell their produce below the MSP in the mandis. Moreover, he alleged that lakhs of acres of agriculture land remained waterlogged, yet the government was not been able to drain out the water standing in the fields.

The JJP leader said in a major paddy scam worth thousands of crores, farmers were through low procurement prices. He added that when the Prime Minister recently visited Haryana, the state government had spent crores on the event while the PM “did not give even five paise” for the state’s development.

Former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala who had supported the BJP to ensure the formation of a joint BJP-JJP governemnt from 2019 -2024 said going with the BJP was a ‘compulsion’ for them adding that had they not done so, they would have been facing existential crisis.

He said that during the JJP’s tenure (2019-24), he threw open the doors for the common public and ensured maximum development in the state and also redressed the grievances of the public. He said during the coalition government, old-age pension increased every year, but since the JJP was out of power, not a single rupee had been added, and thousands of pensions had been cut.

The JJP leader blamed the BJP government’s failure to drain out the water from the fields. Dushyant accused the BJP of making ration cards under the BPL category in large numbers to win votes and then cancelling lakhs of BPL cards after the elections.

The former Deputy CM said players are dying due to mismanagement of sports facilities, and the youth seeking jobs abroad were losing their lives. He alleged that the government was planning to make even PhD holders work as peons. He questioned why, despite Haryana winning 40 per cent of international medals, events like the Commonwealth Games were held in Gujarat. He also said while Haryana led in industrialisation, maximum subsidies went to Gujarat. He further said although the CM was from Haryana, he was being controlled from Gujarat.
