JJP leader and national president of the women wing of the Sarvajatiya Sarvakhap Mahapanchayat Santosh Dahiya on Sunday resigned from the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) to protest the police action against farmers in Karnal.

Santosh was the JJP candidate from the Ladwa Assembly constituency in the 2019 elections.

She said: “The government has been trying to suppress the voice of protesting farmers, which is unacceptable. The way farmers were lathicharged in Karnal is condemnable. Fake FIRs are also being registered against them. We are a part of the government and it is our duty to raise the farmers’ issue. There were statements from Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala that he has been raising the matter with the Prime Minister and Home Minister, and we were thought that the matter will be resolved soon, but nothing happened. So, I have resigned from the JJP.”
