Sirsa, July 9

Following the footsteps of Chaudhary Devi Lal, JJP leader Digvijay Singh Chautala has announced that the party will distribute ‘mooda sets’ (handicraft traditional cane wood bamboo chair and stool) in all panchayats and wards of Dabwali. The initiative aims to provide seating facilities at public places.

The decision was made to address the seating problems faced by people in public spaces. The initiative will benefit both rural and urban areas and revive the old cultural practice of community gatherings.

Talking to The Tribune, JJP leader Digvijay Singh Chautala confirmed that the distribution will start soon. He said each panchayat in the Dabwali constituency will receive a set of 10 mooda chairs and one table and bigger villages will receive two sets. He said that in 1987, Chaudhary Devi Lal was the first to distribute mooda sets to the panchayats, highlighting Haryana’s cultural heritage. He added that they were following the same tradition.

He said, initially, this initiative would cover 70 villages and wards of Dabwali, with plans to extend to the entire district.

When asked if he plans to contest the Assembly elections from Dabwali, the JJP leader said it was too early to say and that the party would decide his candidacy.
