Joint police team conducts combing operation at Kapal Mochan premises

A joint team of police and commandos on Thursday conducted a combing operation on the premises and surrounding areas of inter-state Kapal Mochan Mela, to be held at Kapal Mochan near Vyaspur town of Yamunanagar district from November 1 to November 5, 2025.

The objective of the combing operation was to assure security to every pilgrim and to keep a strict vigil on anti-social and mischievous elements.

Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesperson, said working under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal; the Yamunanagar district police were on full alert mode. He said to strengthen the security arrangements for the upcoming inter-state Kapal Mochan Mela, the police personnel of the Bilaspur police station led by SHO Kuldeep Singh and the commandos conducted a combing operation in various areas.

Kamaldeep Goyal said the Kapal Mochan Mela was a highly significant religious and cultural event, which was attended by thousands of devotees from across the country every year.

He said the safety of every pilgrim and the maintenance of law and order were the police’s top priorities.

“The district police have made special arrangements to ensure a peaceful and safe mela. Special vigilance is being maintained in crime-prone areas. Through the combing operation, the police conducted thorough checks in markets, bus stands, crowded areas, religious sites and areas surrounding the mela premises,” said SP Kamaldeep Goyal. He said the police also collected information on those staying in hotels and dharamshalas to ensure that no anti-social elements could disrupt the mela’s security.

“Such combing operations will continue to ensure peace, law and order in the district. The police’s objective is not only to ensure security but also to instill confidence in the public that the district police are always on their guard,” the SP said.

He also appealed to the public to inform the police if they noticed any suspicious activity. He said the informer’s name would be kept strictly confidential and the police would take prompt action. “The Kapal Mochan Mela is a symbol of devotion and faith and willwill ensure that it is held in a safe environment,” the SP added.
