Karnal: Judiciary officials visit MDD Bal Bhawan, Place of Safety

District judiciary officials visited MDD Bal Bhawan — a child care institute in the city — and Place of Safety in Madhuban to inspect the facilities being provided to the children and inmates, respectively.
District and Sessions Judge and Karnal District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Chairperson Chandrashekhar, DLSA Secretary Jasbir, Additional District and Sessions Judges Rajnish Garg and Sushil Kumar, and Chief Judicial Magistrate Isha Khatri interacted with children living in the bhawan and juvenile inmates at the Place of Safety.
They reached the bhawan and interacted with the children who had lost their parents or whose parents were unable to support them.
Later, they visited the Place of Safety, enquired about the problems being faced by the inmates and checked the quality of the food being served to them. They also encouraged the inmates to maintain good health and keep their surroundings clean.
The officials also said if any inmate wanted to continue their study, they could contact the DLSA. Besides, instructions were given to the staff to process their applications. The superintendent was directed to inform the inmates about their legal rights under the Juvenile Justice Act, 1987.
Meanwhile, some inmates also requested early hearing of their cases in different courts, for which the instructions were issued to the officials.
