Hisar, January 9

Just 8.4% of the aspirants have been able to clear the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) at Bhiwani today.

A total of 2,61,574 candidates appeared in the test on November 16-17 across the state. Of them, only 21,983 candidates were successful in clearing all three levels of test —– Level 1: primary teacher (PRT); Level 2- trained graduate teacher (TGT); and Level 3: post-graduate teacher (PGT). Even with such low scoring, the success percentage has seen an improvement this year as the pass percentage in 2018 was just 5% when only 14,934 candidates were declared successful out of 3,32,366.

BSEH chairperson Jagbir Singh informed that in Level 1, out of 78,879 candidates, 7,720 candidates (9.7 %), including 3,476 men, 4,243 women and one transgender, cleared the test.

For both Level 1 and 2, candidates from Yamunanagar had the worst pass percentage (4.31% and 7.4 %, respectively). For Level 2, Fatehabad candidates fared better than other districts with pass percentage of 12.91%. For Level 3, Hisar candidates performed better than other districts with 5.10% success rate while candidates from Nuh district lagged with 2.34% success rate.

Devender Singh, an education expert, said the success rate seemed to be better than expected if compared to other such tests like Central Teacher Eligibility Test.
