Kaithal Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti conducted surprise inspections of various government offices on Wednesday and found several irregularities. She issued strict directives to officials and took immediate action against absent employees.
During her visit to the CWC office, Preeti found a locked room and vacant workstations, with only a single fourth-class employee present.
Expressing her displeasure, she directed the deduction of a day’s salary for all absentees. At the municipal council office, the DC inspected the property ID branch, where employees were found without identification badges.
She directed them to carry along their IDs at all times.
While checking the attendance register of the diary and dispatch branch, she found eight employees absent, and marked them absent in the register.
She strictly instructed all employees to be punctual.
She inspected the Saral Kendra, where she was shocked with the unhygienic condition of toilets.
She reprimanded officials, saying, “If you cannot maintain cleanliness in your own office, how will you ensure sanitation in the city?”
During her visit, she found the technical branch to have unorganised records and broken chairs, and instructed Municipal Council Secretary Bhanu Sharma to rectify the situation immediately.
She also directed officials to clean and repair public toilets near the birth and death certificate branch. She noticed unmanaged electrical wires and sought an explanation from officials for the same.
Many seats, including those of Junior Engineers (JEs), were found empty, though staff claimed they were on field duty.
Later, Preeti visited the Siwan Community Health Centre (CHC), where she reprimanded a doctor for not wearing uniform.
She thoroughly examined the maternity ward, OPD, homeopathy section, operation theatre and pharmacy, emphasising proper maintenance of medicine stock records.
She interacted with patients to assess the quality of healthcare services.
Not satisfied with the explanation given by staff on medicine stock management, she instructed health officials to ensure timely supply of essential medicines to prevent shortages.
At an Anganwadi Centre, the DC reviewed an ongoing vaccination drive and directed nurses to visit the homes of children who had missed their vaccinations to ensure complete immunisation coverage. At the Siwan grain market, the DC found leaking water taps and garbage-burning. The Market Committee Secretary was absent, and the condition of public toilets was substandard.
Furious over the poor maintenance, she issued a show-cause notice to the market supervisor regarding the wastage of water, burning of garbage and the unsanitary condition of public restrooms. She ordered the resolution of water leakage issues within two hours, and demanded a compliance report.
“All government employees must report to duty on time and serve the public diligently. Further negligence would lead to strict action and surprise inspections would continue across government offices,” she said.
