In a continued effort to combat drug trafficking and curb criminal activities, the Kaithal police conducted an intensive search operation across the district on Sunday morning. As many as 30 teams comprising around 250 police personnel executed the operation, targeting suspected drug traffickers’ homes and other areas linked to the criminal activity.
Teams from the Kalayat, Rajound, Pundri, Civil Lines and Guhla police stations as well as commando squads and sniffer dogs were part of the operation.
Police officials, including Kalayat SHO Sub-Inspector (SI) Jai Bhagwan, Rajound SHO Inspector Inder Singh, Civil Lines SHO Inspector Shiv Kumar, City SHO SI Shanesh, Pundri SHO Inspector Balbir Singh and Guhla SHO SI Rampal, conducted raids with the assistance of commando units and sniffer dogs.
As part of the operation, around 200 suspected residences were thoroughly searched for narcotics or any illegal activity. SP Rajesh Kalia claimed that the aim was to reassure the public about their safety while ensuring that no illegal substances or activities were taking place in the district.
“The primary objective of this early morning operation was to strengthen the security environment and instil fear among criminals. The focus was on targeting drug traffickers and those involved in criminal activities, especially those residing illegally in the district. Our ultimate goal is to make Kaithal a drug-free district,” said SP Kalia.
The SP said during the operation, police teams also engaged with locals, encouraging them to report any suspicious activity or person involved in drug trafficking or other crimes.
SP Kalia said the identities of persons sharing information of such people would be kept confidential. Additionally, residents were educated on the harmful effects of drug abuse.
“The campaign would continue in future as well to ensure criminals either abandon their activities or leave the district altogether,” said the SP.
