To ensure peaceful Assembly elections on October 5, Kaithal police and the Punjab Police held an inter-state coordination meeting at the Cheeka police station. The meeting aimed to prevent cross-border criminal activities, focusing on drug and liquor smuggling. DSP Guhla Kuldeep Beniwal chaired the meeting, where officials from both states prepared a roadmap to curb smuggling and other criminal activities.

Lists of wanted criminals, drug traffickers, and liquor smugglers were exchanged to facilitate coordinated actions in border areas. Joint patrolling, blockade, and security checks at inter-state borders were also planned. DSP Beniwal emphasised the need for cooperation to apprehend criminals who escape to neighbouring states.

Instructions were given to intensify checks on illegal liquor, drugs, and arms smuggling in Punjab’s border areas. The police appealed to local residents to report criminal activities without fear, assuring confidentiality for informants.

The Kaithal police, along with paramilitary forces, conducted flag marches in various areas to reassure the public and encourage peaceful participation in the election process. SP Kaithal, Rajesh Kalia, stated that Model Code of Conduct has been enforced across Haryana, and polling stations will have tight security arrangements.

The police are closely monitoring suspects and social media, urging people to report any attempts to influence or intimidate voters. SP Kalia appealed to the public to ignore rumours and participate peacefully, encouraging immediate reporting of issues to the police helpline number 112.
