Kaithal SP exhorts people to join hands to eliminate drug abuse from society

In an effort to connect with the public and address their concerns directly, the Kaithal police have started a rural outreach programme in the district. As part of the initiative, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kalia and other senior police officials, including DSPs and SHOs, are visiting villages to interact with residents, listen to their grievances and ensure swift resolutions.

Kalia visited Devban village on Monday, where he met senior citizens, women, and other prominent members of the community. He exhorted people to join hands to eliminate drug abuse from society.

Highlighting the effects of drug abuse, Kalia said, “Drugs are the root cause of most crimes. It is our collective responsibility to join hands to eradicate the evil from society. People should discourage those who are involved in drug trafficking as they not only ruin themselves but also destroy the lives of others.”

He urged the villagers to counsel people taking drugs and help them reintegrate into society. For those engaged in drug trafficking, he appealed to the public to report such activities to the police. "Together, we can create a drug-free and crime-free society," he said, reiterating the police's commitment to cracking down on drug suppliers and breaking the supply chain.

Addressing the gathering, Kalia emphasised the importance of bridging the gap between the police and the public. “The programme is aimed at fostering better coordination between the police and the community. Cooperation between the two is essential to maintain peace and curb crime. The police are here to ensure your safety, so do not hesitate to approach us,” he said.

He encouraged the villagers to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood, stressing that collective effort could significantly reduce crime rates in the area.
