Chandigarh, July 20
The Haryana Government has made necessary preparations for the safe travel of the devotees participating in the Kanwar Yatra, which will take place from July 22 to August 2.
A government spokesperson, while providing information on Saturday, stated that many devotees from Haryana carry the ‘kanwar’ from Haridwar and most of the devotees bring the ‘kanwar’ via the Yamunanagar route. He stated that social and religious organisations setting up camps for kanwariyas at various places will need to obtain permission from the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) of their respective sub division areas, such as Jagadhri, Bilaspur and Radaur. All camps should be set up at a distance of 200 feet from the road, on the left side coming from Haridwar-Saharanpur, and away from the road. The registration of these camps should be completed in advance with the office of the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil).
He also mentioned that camps for kanwariyas should be set up at an appropriate distance from the religious places of other communities. Additionally, parking arrangements should be made away from the road to avoid any disruption in traffic and ensure the smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra, he directed. The organisers of the kanwar camps are instructed to provide adequate facilities such as CCTV cameras, separate toilets for men and women, and to divert traffic on routes heavily used by kanwariyas, he said.
Stringent directions have been issued to officials of various departments to ensure the safety of kanwariyas. Police personnel have been deployed on main and other routes, and the Police Department will remain fully vigilant during the Kanwar Yatra to ensure that law and order are maintained He mentioned that the state government is fully alert regarding the Kanwar Yatra, Officers also reviewed the preparations in a meeting concerning Kanwar pilgrims in Yamunanagar district.
