On the call of Chief Minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini, the Karnal administration has initiated a public outreach programme, where senior officials stay overnight in rural areas to directly address the concerns of villagers.

As part of this initiative, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Uttam Singh and Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganga Ram Punia stayed overnight in Shergarh Tapu village in the Kunjpura block, engaging with residents and resolving their grievances on the spot.

During their visit, villagers raised several concerns, including issues with crop registration on portals due to the village’s proximity to the Uttar Pradesh (UP) border. One local farmer explained that since the village lies on the Haryana-UP border, they cultivate land in UP, making it impossible to register their crops on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal. As a result, they cannot sell their crops in Haryana's grain markets.

DC Singh assured the farmers that the crops on land, even if in UP, would be registered after verification by the patwari. The villagers also raised concerns about encroachments on a land pond, requesting its beautification. The DC assured them that the pond would be beautified and directed officials to remove the encroachments, warning of strict action for non-compliance.

Villagers also highlighted issues with creating separate family IDs under the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) programme. DC Singh promised to take up these cases with the government for resolution.

Traffic congestion on the Shergarh Tapu-Gheer road was another concern raised by locals. The DC directed PWD (B&R) officials to address the problem promptly. Regarding property cards for Lal Dora land, he instructed the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) to ensure distribution and informed villagers that the government is considering eliminating the need for property registration for such land.

Concerns regarding the poor quality of materials used for the Shergarh Tapu-Modipur road were also raised, and the DC assured a thorough investigation. Women pointed out drainage issues, prompting the DC to order an immediate site inspection and resolution.

“We have launched this overnight stay programme to continue reaching out to the people in rural areas. Several issues have been raised, including the common problem of crop non-registration along the UP border, which will be raised with the government for a resolution,” said DC Singh.

SP Punia, meanwhile, reaffirmed the administration's commitment to combat drug abuse and encouraged residents to report cases. He assured strict action against those involved, regardless of their position. He also promised improved sports facilities for the youth in rural areas. In response to requests for a permanent police post at the Shergarh Tapu checkpoint, both the DC and SP assured the villagers that the issue would be addressed.

“The overnight outreach programe will continue, and the issues related to policing, including the request for a permanent police post at Shergarh Tapu, will be considered and resolved,” said SP Punia.
