Karnal doctor appointed state IADVL chief

Karnal: Dr Rohit Jindal, a city-based dermatologist, has been unanimously elected state president of Indian Association of Dermatology, Venereology, Leprology (IADVL). He was elected by the members of the association in an annual conference. Dr Meenu Gandhi, city-based dermatologist, has been elected vice-president while Dr Pankaj Kohali, working in Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC), has been appointed general secretary and Dr Sushil Bathla, a senior dermatologist, has been elected treasurer. The aim of the conference was to enlighten the dermatologists of Haryana and other states with new drugs and procedures for skin disease.

Cycle rally held in road safety week

Kurukshetra: Road accidents cause loss of human life and the nation’s property. It is the duty of every person to know the rules of the road and follow those. This was stated by environmentalist Dr Ashok Kumar Verma at a cycle rally. Prerna Samiti Haryana held its 230th cycle rally for road safety and traffic rules on Sunday morning at Kurukshetra city. President of Prerna Samiti Raj Kumari Panwar, Pawan Dhiman, Karam Chand, Dushyant Sharma, Bir Bhan Saini, Ankit and Dr Satyanarayan Sharma participated in the rally.

Shuttlers win silver medal in doubles event

Hisar: Badminton players from Hisar Surender Jakhar and Virender Jakhar won the silver medal in the doubles event in the 43rd All-India Electricity Board Badminton Championship held at Vadodara town of Gujarat from December 27 to 29. Twin brothers Surender and Virender are the employees of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) in Hisar. The doubles players have also represented the country in the World Masters Badminton Championship.

Young novelist honoured

Yamunanagar: Young novelist and a Class X student, Aarit Gupta of Yamunanagar, was honoured with the Global Child Prodigy Award at an event held at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, on January 3. He had written a novel “The Flames of Beginning” at the age of 14. This award ceremony was organised by the Global Child Prodigy Foundation, a Dubai-based NGO. As many as 100 children aged 3–15 years from different fields were selected from all over the world. Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi were the chief guests at the award ceremony. Aarit said that of the 100 children, 22 were from India. He said that the novel “The Flames of Beginning” written by him was highly appreciated at the award ceremony. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also lauded Aarit’s achievement. On August 15, 2019, he was awarded the title “Youngest Fiction Novelist” by the Haryana Government.

Outstanding slum children felicitated

Rohtak: Social outfit ‘Ready to Help’ (RTH) felicitated brilliant students of Gandhi School being run by social activist Naresh Kumar here. Children of migrant labourers are educated at the school free of cost. The outfit also distributed stationery, sweets, peanuts and other eatables among them. Most of the students in the school are slum dwellers. Retired Surgeon Dr Ranbir Singh Dahiya, Comrade Inderjit Singh and international rifle shooter Kajal Saini were the guests who honoured 11 students for excelling in sports and academics. Nine-year-old Divya was felicitated for winning gold medal at the state-level sub-junior gymnastic championship held recently. Vijay Saini, founder of RTH, said his outfit had been carrying out a special campaign ‘Help to Needy People’ these days to distribute warm clothes and blankets among the needy.

Y’nagar doc gets excellence award

Yamunanagar: Dr Vijay Dahiya, Medical Superintendent of Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar, was given ‘Six Sigma Healthcare Excellence Award’ in the category of best hospital administrator for 2019 in New Delhi recently. The award was given by Air Marshal Pawan Kapoor and Member of Parliament Dr Kirit Premjibhai Solanki in the presence of General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff (now Chief of Defence Staff). Dr Dahiya said that 698 nominations were received from all around the world for this category.
