Karnal, July 25
To provide direct connectivity to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayaya University of Health Sciences in Karnal’s Kutail village with roads connecting the National Highway-44, farmers have extended 11.5 acres to the government.
An agreement in this regard has been finalised with the farmers under the land acquisition policy.
Besides, the government has also been working on connectivity to the university with Meerut Road through Ganjogarhi village road. Eastern bypass, a part of the ring road, is also planned near the university, which will also provide direct connectivity to the NH-44.
To negotiate for the land, Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan and officials concerned had to hold several meetings with the farmers, which has now been finalised after the intervention of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
“We are thankful to the farmers of Kutail village who has extended their land to develop a passage to the university. Their support will help in the development of the area,” said Kalyan.
The land will provide connectivity to Unchasamana-Kutail Road, which is being widened to 35-ft from the existing 18-ft. It will further link to the proposed Eastern bypass.
Meanwhile, farmers feel they have contributed to the development of their area. “The direct connectivity will help people reach the medical university in less time. The development of the university will also help in the development of our area,” said Ravinder, a farmer.
