In an attempt to address the growing challenges posed by climate change to agriculture, Maharana Pratap Horticulture University, Karnal, will work on digital horticulture research with the help of Kochi University, Japan.
Digital horticulture research includes smart as well as precision farming as important components. This collaboration is expected to yield significant advancements in greenhouse farming technology, helping farmers to combat climate-related challenges and ensuring sustainable agricultural production. Additionally, the decreasing size of landholdings makes it difficult for small and medium-scale farmers to maximise production and income.
A team of university scientists led by the VC Suresh Malhotra had visited Kochi University from January 13-17 to discuss the project with Japanese scientists.
