Karnal MC shifts 170 stray cattle to gaushalas under special drive
The Karnal Municipal Corporation (MC) has stepped up its special campaign to clear city roads of stray cattle by moving them to gaushalas and nandigrams. Since the launch of the drive on August 1, the MC has shifted around 170 cattle to the gaushala and nandigram in Phoosgarh. The campaign will run until August 31.
For effective implementation, the city has been divided into four zones. A dedicated team of six staff members, along with vehicles for transportation, has been deployed. Each animal is tagged by the Animal Husbandry Department before being moved.
“A special drive is being carried out to make the city roads free from stray cattle. We have deployed team members to ensure the success of the special drive,” said Dr Vaishali Sharma, MC Commissioner.
She warned that strict action would be taken against those who abandon their cattle once they stop yielding milk. “Such animals will be seized and not returned, and legal action will also be taken against the owners,” she said.
The Commissioner further appealed to dairy operators and residents not to allow their animals to stray on the roads, stressing that they disrupt cleanliness, create traffic hazards and increase the risk of road accidents.
