In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the police have frozen moveable and immovable properties worth Rs 6.5 crore allegedly belonging to a drug peddler. As per the police, Gurmukh Singh, a resident of village Amupur, Nissing, had earned these assets through ‘illegal’ earnings from drug trafficking activities. The property freezing order, issued by the police, has also been confirmed by the competent authority in New Delhi, said SP Ganga Ram Punia.

After this action, the accused cannot sell, transfer or gift the properties. “We took this action under the provision of Section 68 F of the NDPS Act,” said the SP.

The process was carried out under the supervision of SI Himmat Singh and SHO (Nissing) inspector Shri Bhagwan. The investigation revealed that Gurmukh Singh had been involved in large-scale smuggling. A case against him had earlier been registered at Pundri police station in Kaithal.

It is the sixth major success for the Karnal police in freezing assets of those involved in drug-related crimes. Previously, the police had taken similar actions in five other cases, seizing properties worth several crores.

In the first case, assets worth Rs 10 crore belonging to Sahab Singh of village Chaugama, Assandh, Karnal, were frozen in 2022, while in the second case, assets worth Rs 7 crore belonging to Suba Singh of Dhancher, Nissing, Karnal, were frozen in October, 2022.
