The aging infrastructure of the Civil Lines and Sadar police stations, situated adjacent to each other in the city, is undergoing modernisation as part of the Karnal Smart City project. The efforts are swiftly making these police stations technologically advanced. Old equipment and furniture are being replaced by state-of-the-art workstations, equipped with latest equipment and furniture. Smart surveillance cameras are being installed.

With the vision of creating safer, smarter and more innovative spaces, the Karnal Smart City Ltd. (KSCL), has initiated the renovation of the police stations at an estimated cost of Rs 3.75 crore.

As part of the project, damaged floors are being replaced with vitrified floor tiles, while damaged doors and windows are being replaced with UPVC (Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride) and WPC (Wood Polymer Composite) in all rooms of both police stations,” said Ramphal, GM of KSCL.

He said false ceilings and paneling in all rooms, along with modular kitchens equipped with accessories, would be installed. Additionally, all toilets would be renovated with sanitary fittings. He said provision had been made for UPS, LCDs, landline telephones, water coolers, split ACs, internet connections, fans, roller blinds and modular furniture in all rooms and labs of the police stations.

“Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) gates with stainless steel writing, granite and toughened glass are being installed. Damaged roads within the campus of both police stations are being replaced with 80 mm paver blocks for pathways,” he added.

Anish Yadav, Deputy Commissioner-cum-CEO of the KSCL, said after the modernisation, these police stations would be equipped with all modern amenities. Shashank Kumar Sawan, Superintendent of Police (SP), said the efforts would provide police personnel with a better workplace environment.
