On March 12, a Kasauli court accepted the Himachal Pradesh Police’s closure report in the gangrape case against Haryana BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Rocky Mittal. On the same day, the woman who had levelled allegations against them was granted anticipatory bail by a Panchkula court in an extortion case filed by Rocky Mittal.

The woman, who was on the run, reportedly could not attend Kasauli court hearings on two occasions due to fear of arrest by the Haryana Police. The Himachal Pradesh Police had filed the closure report in the gangrape case before the court on February 4. The woman was asked to appear before the court on March 6 and March 12, but she failed to do so.

She had filed for anticipatory bail on March 7. In her application before the Panchkula court, she stated that after registering an FIR dated December 13, 2024, in Kasauli (Himachal Pradesh) under Section 376D (gangrape) and Section 506 (for criminal intimidation) of the IPC against Rocky Mittal alias Jai Bhagwan and BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli, the extortion case had been filed against her to pressure her.

Her counsel told the court that she “is agreed to give her voice samples,” and that nothing was to be recovered from her as she hadn’t received anything based on the alleged threatening calls. Two other accused in the case have already been granted regular bail.

The public prosecutor argued that her custodial interrogation was necessary for obtaining voice samples and recovering the mobile SIM, mobile phone etc.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Praveen Kumar Lal observed that “the petitioner/accused is a woman having family responsibility” and “is not reported to be involved in any other criminal case.”

While granting anticipatory bail, the judge said, “Nothing has been received by the petitioner/accused from the complainant (Rocky Mittal) as valuable security or money, etc. as a result of alleged threats advanced by her. It is further said that the petitioner/accused is ready to join the investigation and to cooperate with the investigation. Keeping in view the aforementioned facts and circumstances, this court reached the conclusion that in case of joining the investigation, the accused may be granted the concession of interim bail in her favour.”

The woman has been directed to join the investigation on or before March 25.

It is pertinent to mention that after the registration of the case against Badoli and Mittal on December 13, 2024, in Kasauli, Mittal had filed an extortion case against the woman and her two accomplices on February 6 at the Sector 5 police station in Panchkula.

He alleged that the three accused had repeatedly made telephonic threats to him between September 1, 2024, and September 18, 2024, warning that he and Badoli would be falsely implicated in honey trap cases if their demands were not met. According to the Panchkula police FIR, on January 22, 2025, Mittal received a WhatsApp call. When he returned the call, he was offered a settlement in the gang rape case for Rs 50 lakh.
