Keep spirit of winning alive: Kurukshetra DC to students

Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Mahabir Prasad on Tuesday said the spirit of winning should never die, and every student must have the resolve to keep the spirit alive. He was addressing students at a photography competition organised on World Photography Day by the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Technology in collaboration with the department of youth and cultural affairs, Kurukshetra University.

The Deputy Commissioner said, “One should not get lost in the arithmetic of victories and defeats. What matters most is keeping the spirit to win, alive. That determination must always remain within every student.”

The contest, themed “Beauty of the university campus”, drew wide participation from several departments. Viewing the photographs, the Deputy Commissioner said he was deeply moved. Many images reflected emotion and sensitivity, while some unique perspectives revealed campus beauty in ways unseen before. He emphasised that today’s era was competitive and students must keep honing their skills.

Kurukshetra University Registrar Dr Virender Pal praised the creativity of the participants, while institute director Prof Maha Singh Poonia presented the details about the event and said the institute would continue to organise more such events in the future to provide practical knowledge to the students and improve their skills.

KU youth and cultural affairs director Vivek Chawla also attended the event.

The jury, including historian-photographer Ranveer Singh Phogat and Fine Arts faculty members Dr Pawan and Dr Anand Jaiswal shared photography tips with the students.

In the photography competition Sanjana (fine arts, fourth year) won the first prize of Rs 3,100, while Anjali (geography, 1st year) and Mohit (fine arts, second year) received Rs 2,100 for second position, and Rs 1,100 for third position, respectively. Three consolation winners received Rs 500 each.
