The participants, including students, teachers and people from all walks of life, held the National Flag and raised the slogans of 'Vande Matram' and 'Bharat Mata ki jai'.

MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh, Rehabilitation Council of India chairperson Dr Sharanjit Kaur and Registrar Dr Krishan Kant, among others, were present.

Khattar exhorted the youth to play an active role in national interest, protect the dignity of the Tricolour and connect with social concerns.

Appreciating MDU's 'Nasha-Mukt Ghar' campaign, he administered the oath of de-addiction to the gathering. He also planted saplings on the university campus and paid floral tributes at the martyrs' memorial.

Targeting the Congress, the minister said certain people considered the Tricolour their personal property and made it their party flag. "They remained in power for more than 60 years after Independence and considered themselves the masters of the nation," he remarked.

"Today, there is a dire need for freedom from drugs. The students, teachers and staff members of MDU and its affiliated colleges will work towards making Haryana drug-free," said the Vice-Chancellor.

Khattar also visited his ancestral village Baniyani in Rohtak district and interacted with villagers.
