Khattar vows to set up IMT in Karnal
Former Chief Minister and Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday held a series of meetings with party workers and different sections of society, and exhorted them to help party candidate from Karnal segment Jagmohan Anand win by a huge margin.
He highlighted a strong connection with the people here, and promised to establish an industrial model township (IMT) in Karnal.
“We will establish an IMT in Karnal for providing services and facilities that would place the city on a global map of industrial competitiveness,” said Khattar while interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of a meeting. “The work done previously in Karnal will be accelerated if BJP candidate is elected again,” he added.
On the visit of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Ghogripur village, Khattar said, “There is no need to comment on his visit as he came to express sympathy. However, taking selfies on such an occasion was inappropriate. He should have avoided it.”
On being asked about Congress MP Kumari Selja’s absence from the party’s election campaign, Khattar said, “This is their internal dispute, which has now become public. Whether she participates in the campaign or not is up to her. If she is not campaigning, I understand her pain, and that pain is shared by every person from the Scheduled Castes.”
When asked about Anil Vij’s claim for the Chief Minister’s post, Khattar said, “All 90 candidates should stake their claim, who knows, it might bring some advantage.” On the issue that “CM City” might shift from Karnal to Ladwa if the BJP returns to power, Khattar clarified, “Karnal will remain connected to Ladwa.”
He also criticised statements made by Congress leaders Shamsher Singh Gogi and Neeraj Sharma, saying, “They have mocked the youth. This is the key difference between the BJP and the Congress, and the people will make comparisons.”
Gogi, who is contesting from the Assandh seat, recently during his public meeting said ‘prioritising the well-being of his family and close ones if his party forms the government, while Sharma, who is contesting from NIT Faridabad segment, recently promised voters that if the Congress comes to power, they would be ‘rewarded’ with jobs”.
