Jind, February 12
With a view to teaching concepts of science, maths and social studies through activity-based learning in a playful manner, special parks with educative models of these subjects have been prepared at Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School in Safidon town of Jind district.
The school authorities have taken this initiative to make the study of these subjects interesting and entertaining for the students.
“Many students have little interest in mathematics and science and develop a sort of phobia for these subjects. Classroom teaching of social studies also becomes monotonous. The underlying idea behind this exercise is to remove monotony and replace phobia with joy and enthusiasm,” said Dr YP Singh, the school principal.
He said providing bookish knowledge about complicated concepts of these subjects could become boring, while the same things could be taught easily and playfully with the help of practical models.
The model science, maths and social studies parks have become so popular that students and teachers from other schools and districts have started visiting the school to observe these fun-filled learning methods. “It is a novel idea to teach the children in such an interesting way. The school principal, teachers and other staff members have put in commendable efforts to establish these knowledge parks,” said Harish Kumar Vashishth, ADC, Jind, who was invited to formally inaugurate these parks.
Besides utilising the grants from the government, the principal and teachers have contributed towards the establishment of these parks.
