Kisan Panchayat in Rohtak urges PM to hike Samman Nidhi budget, give free crop insurance
A ‘Kisan Panchayat’ organised at Makrauli Kalan village here on Sunday passed a resolution urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance the budget of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi stating that it had become a vital source of financial assistance for farmers. Additionally, the farmers called on the Union Government to provide free insurance cover for their crops to alleviate financial risks for the farmers.
The panchayat was organised by former Labour and Employment Minister Krishan Murti Hooda while the BJP district president Ranvir Dhaka presided over it.
The event aimed at listening to the concerns of the farmers and gathering their suggestions, which would later be presented to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for redressal on priority. The panchayat also brought together the farmers from various villages under the Garhi Sampla Kiloi Assembly segment. The discussions focused on addressing key agricultural issues and improving the lives of the farmers in the region, said Krishan Murti.
“The farmers passed four resolutions in the panchayat by raising their hands. They expressed gratitude to the PM for monetary aid provided under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, which has helped support their livelihoods. Additionally, they commended the CM for his announcement to procure 24 crops at a minimum support price in Haryana. They termed both steps as crucial in terms of improving the economic condition of farmers,” said Krishan Murti.
He said the farmers also flagged the issue of scarcity of potable and irrigation water in several villages under the Kiloi-Garhi Sampla segment following the erroneous policy of the previous Congress government.
While speaking at the panchayat, the former minister launched a blistering attack on former CM Bhupinder Hooda. He accused the previous Congress regime led by Hooda of acquiring fertile and valuable land of the farmers at nominal rates in the name of development. It left many farmers landless and jobless while the BJP government had not acquired a single inch of land in the past decade but launched numerous pro-farmers schemes, he added.
At the panchayat, farm leaders Gugan Singh and Vedpal Hooda gave several suggestions by flagging the challenges being faced by the farming community.
Jasiya village sarpanch Om Prakash, Om Narayan Sharma, Dinesh Ghilor, Surjeet Hooda, Dalip Singh Kiloi, Manish Ahlawat and Gaurav Hooda also expressed their views at the kisan panchayat.
