Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal inspects Jyotisar interpretation centre
Kurukshetra Lok Sabha MP Naveen Jindal on Friday visited the under-construction Mahabharata-themed interpretation centre at Jyotisar Tirtha in Kurukshetra and directed officials to improve the sanitation conditions and focus on the quality of work.
The ambitious interpretation centre is being constructed at a cost of over Rs 200 crore but the project has missed multiple deadlines.
The MP inspected all five blocks of the interpretation centre and was unhappy with the sanitation conditions.
The MP said Jyotisar Tirtha was being developed as a world-class tourist destination therefore, the sanitation conditions of the Tirtha should be improved accordingly. The ghats must be cleaned and professional guides should be available for the tourists. There is a need to focus on providing proper parking areas too for the tourists for which direction have been issued to the Deputy Commissioner, Kurukshetra.
Naveen Jindal also checked the quality of work done and issued directions to the officials after finding flaws in it. He directed the officials of the Tourism Department and the Public Works Department to focus on quality work, rectify the deficiencies, replace damaged stones and he said that he would again inspect the centre.
He also instructed that the focus should on beautification around the museum under construction and said that the pending development works should be completed in the next three to four months.
The MP inquired about the functioning of equipment, projectors, mannequins installed, pending work and other facilities.
Jindal said, “The government is constructing a grand Mahabharata-themed interpretation centre at Jyotisar and tourists from across the world will be reaching Kurukshetra to visit the centre. A world-class museum is being prepared and any compromise in the quality of construction work will not be tolerated. The flaws should be rectified immediately so that there are no shortcomings at the centre during the second inspection. The officials of the Tourism Department and KDB have been directed that the first two blocks of the centre should be opened for the tourists”.
“Lord Krishna had given the sermon of the Gita in Jyotisar, and in this regard, efforts are being made by the government to develop Jyotisar and Kurukshetra. The interpretation centre will be completed in the next three to four months. The government is trying to ensure that the teachings of Gita reach across the world and people can adopt these teachings in their lives and contribute selflessly to the development of the country,” he added.
The Kurukshetra MP was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh and Honorary Secretary of Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) Upender Singhal, SDM Kapil Sharma, KDB members and other officials.
