KU faculty’s research among 10 most cited papers in US journal

A study conducted by Dr Jitender Bhardwaj of the Department of Zoology of Kurukshetra University on cadmium-induced reproductive toxicity, published in the Journal of Applied Toxicology, an American journal, has been recognised as one of the 10 most cited articles in the journal. Dr Bhardwaj’s research delves into the harmful effects of cadmium (Cd) on reproductive health, focusing on oxidative stress, follicular apoptosis, steroid synthesis inhibition and teratogenic toxicity in ovarian tissues across different animal species.

His findings provide insights into the underlying mechanisms of cadmium-induced toxicity, paving way for further research on environmental pollutants and reproductive health.

Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva congratulated Dr Bhardwaj for his research work, and emphasised the university’s commitment to fostering high-quality research.

Sachdeva said the university had introduced several initiatives — including incentives for researchers, recognition of outstanding contributions, streamlined project approvals, patent-filing support and the establishment of incubation, start-up, and innovation centres on the university campus.
