Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Prof Som Nath Sachdeva emphasised the significance of schemes like Khelo India and Fit India in identifying and nurturing young sports talent.

Speaking at the 'Khelo India Fit India-Joint Fitness Fiesta,’ organised by the Directorate of Sports, Kurukshetra University, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) North Regional Centre, Sonepat. Prof Sachdeva highlighted the dual benefits of sports- enhancing fitness and bringing national pride through international achievements on Saturday.

The VC further assured that the Sports Authority of India (SAI) would continue to support such events and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting sports. KU Sports Director Prof Dinesh Rana outlined the event’s key features.

Assistant Director of SAI Meeta Bhardwaj and In SAI in-charge Kurukshetra Babu Lal elaborated on various sports schemes aimed at athletic development.

Dr Jimmy Sharma, Deputy Director, Public Relations, shared that athletes from boxing, hockey and kabaddi, along with Youth Red Cross volunteers participated actively. The event also featured fitness competitions including yoga, dodge ball, push-ups and planks. The winners were honoured by SAI, Kurukshetra.
