Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University has won two gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the All-India inter-university men’ boxing competition held at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. The Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva, congratulating the players and boxing coach Rajesh Kumar Rajound for this excellent performance, said KU sports persons were doing well not only in the country but also abroad also. KU Registrar Dr. Sanjeev Sharma also congratulated the players. Acting sports director Rajesh Sobti informed that in the men’ boxing competition held from December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022, the KU secured the first position in the tournament with 74 points. He further said KU boxers Neeraj and Yashpal won gold medals in their respective category. Vivek, Ankit and Gaurav won the silver medal while Sumit, Sanchit and Vijay brought laurels to the university by bagging bronze medals in their respective weight category.
Women cagers bring laurels
Yamunanagar: Kurukshetra University has secured second position in the North Zone Women inter-university basketball championship held at Chitkara University, Rajpura. College principal Dr (Major) Harinder Singh Kang said the team of Kurukshetra University included eight woman players from Guru Nanak Khalsa College – Trivendra (Captain), Sandhya, Manali, Rimple, Pooja, Pooja Rawat, Sakshi and Kajal. He said that the basketball team of the college had also set a new record by winning the inter-college championship of Kurukshetra University. Randeep Singh Jauhar, president of the college management committee, congratulated the players for this wonderful achievement.
‘Razzle Dazzle’ programme
Yamunanagar: To celebrate the New Year with new dreams, new resolutions, a programme “Razzle Dazzle” was organised by the department of self-finance of Mukand Lal National College. Students of various clubs of the college performed solo singing, group singing, solo dance, group dance, nukkad play, mimicry, mime, yoga with music and instrumental play under the guidance of Dr Neeti Daryal, head of the department of self-finance courses. Dr Daryal said such types of programmes provided a platform to students and helped in the holistic development of their personalities. Dr Ritu Kumar, officiating principal of the college, appreciated the efforts of the students and staff members.
