Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday named former union minister Kumari Selja and party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi members of the party’s working committee.

Former Rajya Sabha MP T Subbarami Reddy has been inducted as permanentinvitee to the Congress Party’s highest decision making body.

Former Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Kumar Lallu will be specialinvitee to the CWC.

The appointments come after the party removed Adampur MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi from his posts. He was special invitee to the CWC and was expelled after voting for independent Kartikeya Sharma in the recently held Rajya Sabha election in Haryana, where the Congress Party’s official nominee, Ajay Maken, lost.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
