To improve traffic movement and sanitation, the district administration has decided to monitor traffic and sanitation in Thanesar City through over 200 CCTVs.

As per the information, there are over 200 CCTV cameras in the city and the feed of the cameras will be seen in a control room established at the Mini-Secretariat in Kurukshetra.

As per the information, Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh during a recent inspection of the control room, found that only the feed of 20 cameras was being shown on the screens. Taking a serious view of the situation, the DC directed the officials concerned to get the cameras repaired at the earliest else action would be initiated against the officials responsible for the lapse.

Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh said along with the traffic and law and order, cleanliness would also be monitored through the CCTV cameras in the city.

“Sincere efforts are being made to improve the sanitation in Kurukshetra and residents are also being appealed not to throw garbage on roads. The residents should cooperate with the municipal council and district administration in keeping the city clean. The CCTVs are being repaired and after these are repaired, the cleanliness of the city will be monitored through the cameras. If any person is caught throwing garbage on roads, action will be taken against that person and a fine imposed”, the DC said.

Neha Singh said, “The same cameras will be helpful in maintaining law and order situation, improving the traffic management and also keep an eye on traffic rule violators. The traffic police will issue online challans to the people violating traffic rules including not wearing helmets, triple riding, reckless driving and other violations. Everyone should also follow the traffic rules, as it will not only save the person from being fined, but it also save human lives. The municipal council officials have been directed to repair the CCTV cameras in the city as soon as possible”

Kurukshetra District Municipal Commissioner (DMC) Satinder Siwach said there were more than 200 CCTV cameras in the city and these cameras were being connected to the control room through fiber cable. The work will be completed soon and if required more cameras will be installed. Different teams of the municipal council are working to improve the sanitation and the CCTV footage will also help the council in its efforts.
