Kurukshetra goes to AAP under seat-sharing pact

After getting the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency in a seat-sharing agreement with the Congress in Haryana, as part of INDIA bloc, the AAP claimed that the alliance would win all 10 seats.

“Wherever the BJP has a direct contest with a candidate of INDIA bloc, it will lose. Kurukshetra symbolises the victory of righteousness over wrong. The election victory in Haryana will start from here,” claimed senior state vice-president of the AAP, Anurag Dhanda, during a press conference today. On farmers’ agitation, he said, “The Khattar government has lathicharged agitating farmers and is filing cases against farmers. Tear gas shells are fired. Rubber bullets are being fired too. Don’t be careless in the treatment of any injured farmer. Don’t do politics. They are our food providers. If the BJP government cannot provide better treatment, hand them over to the Punjab Government.”

Commenting on the Budget, he said the government was continuously presenting a deficit budget. “The debt has reached over Rs 3 lakh crore from Rs 70,000 crore. Because of this, the economic condition of Haryana is continuously deteriorating,” he said, adding that the government had cut the allocation for agriculture, rural development and panchayat.

He alleged that the BJP had been “copying” various AAP schemes. “The CM has announced Teerth Yatra scheme and a provision has been made in the Budget. But only those with income less than Rs 1 lakh have been included in it,” he said.

“Does a person earning over Rs 1 lakh not have faith in religion? Doesn’t he feel like going on a pilgrimage? Are they not citizens of Haryana?” he asked. Another scheme that had been copied was Rs 1 crore honorarium to the families of martyrs.

“This scheme has already been implemented in Delhi and Punjab. We want the scheme to be implemented in the entire country,” he said.
