Kurukshetra, June 12
The 40-ft tall statue of Lord krishan ‘Virat Swaroop, which was installed seven-month-ago at Jyotisar Tirtha, is yet to be unveiled.
The statue that cost Rs 10 crore is constructed of ‘Ashtadhatu’ at a workshop of Ram Vanji Sutar in Noida. The pieces of the statue were brought to Jyotisar in August last year. The assembling of the pieces was completed by November. The Kusukshetra Development Board (KDB) wanted to get the statue unveiled during the International Gita Mahotsav, held in December 2021, but due to pending landscaping work, it has been getting postponed.
Sources in the board said: “Some trees near the statue have been a major obstacle in the landscaping work. The matter regarding these trees is pending with the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The project has already been delayed, but now, the board is planning to get the statue inaugurated by organising a small ceremony in the next few days.” Gautam Kumar, Executive Engineer, Tourism Department said: “The work for the landscaping has been allotted for the entire campus. The issue related to trees is with the NGT. The local administration is also looking into the matter. We are making all efforts to prepare the site for the inauguration by June.”
Madan Mohan Chhabra, honorary secretary of the board said: “ Efforts are being made to inaugurate the statue by June or the first week of July. A final date will be announced soon.”
